Nursing/Pumping Schedule for the Working Mama

Being a working mama, it's hard for me to wrap my head around all the prep I need to do to actually be away from my kids.  When one child gets done with nursing, it seems you easily forget all the effort it took to pump AND feed on a daily.  Here is my schedule now that I'm back at work.  Hopefully it is helpful to you mamas out there that aren't able to be with your little ones all day!

6:30 a.m.-first feeding of the day (on the breast) & right before I leave for work.
9:00 a.m.-pump from both breasts (I'm usually able to pump around 8 ounces or so)
12/12:30 p.m.-pump again from both breasts (around 5-6 oz. this time)
2:30/3:00 pm.-pump from both breasts (more like 2-3oz if I'm lucky)
4:30/5:00-offer the breast the minute we walk in the door (which is sometimes a total shit show due to my toddler's "Twonager" tendencies-I guess that term is totally a thing.

I try to fill him up as best I can before bed by cluster feeding so that he sleeps in longer stretches at night.  This (in theory) makes sense although I still have an almost four month old that gets up every 3 hours or so....but I have faith we will get there soon.

by 7:00 p.m. we have taken our bath, swaddle and are down with another feeding before bed.

I also am lucky because my kid doesn't like drinking milk from the Medela bottles that hook up to my pump (I have this one) so it's super fun at the end of each day to dump all the milk I've pumped into Avent bottles and then label them 1000X for the daycare people (Can you tell i'm being facetious here?)

But at the end of the day, my kid is getting what he needs and I'm happy about that.  Whatever you choose to do (breast or formula) being a working mom is a hard job with many things to juggle (in a different way than if you were to stay at home).  I hope that this alleviates some of the stress you may be feeling by giving you a guideline and the encouragement that you can do it!!

Some more helpful tips:

-drink TONS of water
-If you can't pump in a secluded office or bathroom, try this car adapter or this hand pump
-Whatever I can't pump, I use frozen milk.  Eventually, this will run out and I'll switch to formula.
-I bring a pumping bag to work, leave my pump there, and bring an extra sponge and soap to wash my parts in between pumping

In case you just came to see one well fed baby, here he is:

Trendy Tuesdays

A lot of bloggers I follow and love post certain favorite things they have been eyeing, or inspiration or whatever they have been just loving lately.  For me, it's always nice to buy a few fun things whether that be a new pair of sunnies, a cute shirt for Jordan or a piece of home decor.  Below are a few of my favorite finds!

Happy Shopping!

Love Potion Mug
This mug is PERFECT for a little Valentine's Day Cheer!

Quay Australia: Vivienne sunnies

In keeping with the 'rose gold' theme, these sunnies are a must.  I love my Quays and also love that they aren't over the top expensive (these retail for $60!!)

Pistol + Arrow Kiss Shirt

I picked this up for Jordan for Valentine's Day and I'm in love with it!  I'm sure she will want to pair it with a 'princess skirt' because you know she's two and princesses are where it's at.

This pink Le Creuset is on my wishlist and something I'll be saving for.  And finally, this bathroom inspo:

Amidst everything we have going on, including working full time and managing two small kiddos, we are slowly trying to renovate our house one room at a time.  This includes a fair amount of  "sweat equity" and YouTube videos....but more on that later.

Enjoy your tuesday!!!

Nursery Reveal!

So the minute I found out I was having a boy (and in total disbelief) my mind started racing with Nursery ideas.  As much as I don't think you NEED  to have a theme, I wanted to at least have some semblance of one.

I created a mood board and pretty much stuck to my original idea (you can find it in this post) with a few tweaks here and there.  This was my attempt at collecting all of my ideas into one place.  Since our home is only a three bedroom (and two of the rooms are very small) I didn't have a lot to space to work with.  When we moved in, the room was a dark purple and dark gray, with wood trim and crappy carpet.  I'm kicking myself for not saving the picture of where we started and where it is today because well....it's quite the transformation.

Here is how it looks today and I while I might add that I'm no interior designer, I really do love creating spaces for my kiddos.

You can find a source list at the end of this post !

Paint Color: Wall (Gray Owl in an Eggshell finish by Benjamin Moore) & Trim (Simply White in Semi-Gloss by Benjamin Moore)

Light Fixture
Basketball Hoop (hoop hardware was spray painted)
Rocket bookshelf: made by my dad but inspired by this:
Dresser: a DIY from an IKEA dresser that we stained and painted

I hope this Nursery Reveal inspires you to take your own unique approach to creating an amazing space for your little ones!

Beauty Products For The Busy Mama

I get asked consistently about the beauty/skin products I use, not that I'm an expert but we (as mama's) like to feel somewhat pulled together even if we were up all night pulling a marathon due to a (Fill in the blank______) kiddo that just won't give you break!

So, here are a few of my tried and true products that I've been using:

Skin:

Mineral Fusion Moisturizer-I love how non greasy this feels on my skin, a major win

Mineral Fusion Revitalizing Eye Treatment- great for tired "I haven't slept in days" eyes

Yes to Grapefruit face wash-This is a nice face scrub that is paraben free.  I also use it with a Clarisonic brush!

Glamglow Youth Mud-My FAVORITE mask.  This is great for clearing the skin, I use about once every 2 weeks (worth the money in my opinion).

Makeup:
Benefit Hoola Matte Bronzer -this is a nice matte bronzer for all over the face -or- Kat Von D Shade & Light Palette-this is WONDERFUL for contouring

BECCA Shimmering Skin Perfector/Mineral Blush Duo -This duo compact is a highlighter/blush that is sooo pretty on the skin (especially for lighter skin).

BareMinerals Original Foundation - I often switch between a mineral foundation and a liquid (depending on my mood).  BareMinerals is light weight and blends very easily.  I alternate and love using Covergirl Ready, Set, Gorgeous Foundation.  The formula is light weight as well and when applied with a damp beauty blender gives a very nice finish.  A third runner up is Makeup Forever HD Foundation- medium coverage but goes on for a flawless look.

Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Eraser - Wonderful at hiding the look of tired eyes and easy on the wallet.  For higher end I love NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer in Vanilla - This has great coverage and won't crease.

Anastasia Brow Wiz. - Hands down best brow pencil out there.  I use this to outline and a soft brown powder to fill.

Stila Liquid Eyeliner-the BEST liquid eyeliner for a 'winged' look

Carli Bybel Palette -This is a gorgeous (cheap) palette for eyes and face.  It's full of Mauve and neutral colors.

That's it!  All of these products I've used extensively for years and have all worked so well for me.  Try them and let me know what you think!

Keepin it classy as always,
Jaimee Lynne
