The day after New Years

Happy New Year!!!

I hope everyone had a tremendous, relaxing, fun, and exhausting (in a good way) holiday weekend!!  It's always such a bummer once the 2nd of January hits.  It means back to life--back to reality!  I'm sure that most years everyone would love to stick to the resolutions they set for themselves.  Today, I'm sharing a few of mine! Please, help me stick to them!  In 2018 I will....

1).  Not sweat the small stuff.  This one is a constant thing I must remind myself of.  At the end of the day, when I'm thanking the good lord for all his blessings, I remember that the kid that frustrated me, or the parent that never returned my calls, or the staff that just can't seem to return my paperwork..DON'T MATTER.  Coming home to my healthy and happy kids and husband are what make my day.  I try really hard to remind myself of how lucky I am and am learning to cut myself a break and not worry so much about things that won't really matter in the long run.

2).  Take time to focus on ME!  This is one that I think is very important for all you parents out there!  As a mom of littles, it's really really hard for me to take time for myself.  It takes a lot to carve out time for the gym during the day on a weekend, or hitting the nail salon solo, taking a 5 minute walk with my dog or grabbing a drink with a friend.  Anything I can do to enjoy this life of mine and concentrate on taking care of both my mind and body-I am to going make a priority (no more excuses!) Who is with me!?

3).  Travel more.  With little kids it can often be hard to schlep all kinds of beds and swings and bottles, etc. on a vacation but you know what? It's totally worth it.  Since we took two major vacations already this year (Bahamas & Disney) we are slated to save some money and stay more local this winter.  But, that doesn't mean that we don't have plans to travel!  We have yet to go up to Vancouver or take a day trip to an Airbnb on the San Juan Islands.  This is most definitely a resolution I'd like to stick to.

4).  Unplug on the weekends.  Who else finds escape through their phones or computers?  I find myself scrolling through things more often than is good for me and I'd like to turn off my phone and just be more present.  Sorry friends, but I'll be MIA most weekends--playing babies with Jordan or cars with Lukie.

5).  Carve out time for some adventures with my husband.  This one is super important to me.  Even if we have to hire a sitter for the day, I want to spend more time together.  I'd like to sneak away for a day at the snow or take a hike with our dog (like the old days;)

6).  Expand my blog & work on my tshirt business.  Many of you don't know but I'm aiming to start a small kids t-shirt line to be called, Teeny Ramblers.  I hope that I can continue to learn and grow in this wonderful community of supportive people.  I hope to make connections that are meaningful and have fun all while juggling motherhood & a full time job.

7).  Volunteer.  I need to do this. period.

Seven.  Seven days in a week.  Seven resolutions that I will try hard at every day.  I hope you all take time to reflect on the good things life has to offer amidst all the crappy, day to day shit we all have to deal with.

Wishing you all the HAPPIEST & HEALTHIEST New Year--I mean it.

Xoxo
